I cant beleive Col Jim hasn't mentioned this one.
When Col Jim was DOM of pompey band, we supplied the fanfare team.
Can't remember the year about 1976
One day the routine was changed because of the Queen Mother's birthday and the Royal Horse Artillery were firing a salute somewhere.
We, the fanfare team crept on to the arena in the dark after the RAF display as usual and were standing there trumpets ready when the announcer said instead of HM Royal Marines he said The Royal Horse Artillary and in came charging horses.
You chould have seen the look on Col Jim's face and the cheers from the field gun crews when we took off running from the arena _________________ I have decided to live forever..... so far, so good.................. |
