Does anybody else get about 15-20 spam e-mails everyday?

I never used to and therefore, I'm not sure if it is linked to being a member of this forum?

Some time ago, I also had my browser 'hijacked' which was a real pain but now sorted.

I would be interested to hear other forum member's comments/suggestions.

Cheers!

I have a spam filter on my puter.....also a firewall and McAfee anti virus.

I get the odd one or two thingys pop through but so far it has prevented any problems.
I also have web pop-up controls which block all pop-ups.

I have a 10inch thick portland stone wall surrounding my workstation plus 6 burly minders. I wear chainmail and body armour along with a kevlar vest, when on this site, and have 3 bomyknockers and a pike to hand. If things really hot up I have several cans of mace at hand too. Seems to work nicely.

You get a certain amount of spam no matter what you do.You can have 15 inch battle armour.the rule is if you dont know or trust dont open just delete it .Hijacking is a bit different .mine was hijacked once it cost me 45 quid to have it sorted.Try downloading microsoft defender its free and its good .then theres spybot 1.4 adaware .If you have them theres less chance co's it stops these people leaving there mark thats what they do then follow it up later with the realy harmful stuff.you can always try the portland stonewall like Aaron see if thats anygood

15-20 a day? I wish!! I get in the region of 30+ a day and it is nothing to do with being a member of the forum. Your email address' are all encoded in a database that bots cannot get to.
As soon as you have your email in clear on a website as in: me@myisp.co.uk the bots will get it and the spamming will start. Never leave your email on a guestbook... they are a prime target for spambots. If you HAVE to leave an email put this instead: me at myisp dot co dot uk as the spambots won't read it as an email address. If you send someone and email through the forum you will complete a form, not an email. This way your identity is protected...

Gmail can be a little unpredictable and harsh but if it is managed properly it is very good.
I have used Spam Bully and a load of other plugins but find the best way is to keep outlook updated. I still have to check they were all spam, just in case!

For my other email I use Mozilla Thunderbird instead of Outlook and it's also very good with dealing with spam.

I think I have too many email addresses - I'm up to 4 main ones that I use plus 2 other that I use rarely!

Thanks for that folks...I have all the necessary Anti Spam this, Firewall that etc. etc. but the crap still comes through, mostly USA stuff (eg. Software, Mortgages)

I'll have to get a 'Spam Fritterer!'

It's not really a problem but annoying all the same!

I have been with AOL for about a year now. I can count the spam I have received on one hand. If you do get any you just click on the 'report spam' button at the bottom of the e mail page.
