Channel Four Documentary - Searching for Musicians

I am writing to you in connection with a unique new television history series entitled The Queen in 3D produced by Renegade Pictures for Channel 4, in association with the British Film Institute.  The series is based on remarkable, newly-discovered footage of Her Majesty during the Coronation Week in 1953… filmed in 3D.

The footage has been languishing in the vaults of the BFI and is part of a vanishingly rare body of 3-D newsreel films shot in the 1950s.  The 3-D quality of the films gives them the surreal effect of almost being 'inside' the footage with Her Majesty herself.  There are also a number of other amazing 3D films documenting everyday life in Britain at the time.

On the basis of this we are making a TV series about these 3D films, and about the story of the Queens Coronation itself.  And we are working with the Palace to produce new footage in 3D of Her Majesty going about her public duties over the course of the summer on 2009.  The films will be screened at the NFT in November and broadcast on Channel4, who will be distributing millions of pairs of 3D spectacles in the national newspapers.

In the next few weeks we are hoping to record interviews with historians and social commentators to consider why this is one of the most fondly remembered moments in the nation’s collective memory.  We are also hoping to speak with those who took part in the procession and are featured in this amazing 3D archive.  In particular we are very keen to find anyone who was involved in The Royal Marines Band Service during the Coronation Procession and I was wondering whether anyone at the Royal Marines Association might be able to offer me any help or advice in tracking such individuals down?

If you can help please contact Hayley direct on:

hayley.reynolds@renegadepictures.co.uk

Taken from the latest RMA e-shot.  My mind can stretch out a few names who might have been involved.  Can we try and trace anyone?

Cpl Bugler Chris (Sailor) Reid, was a young Bugler, who took part in that event. I will give him a ring and ask if he wants to be contacted by Hayley?
