I ain't got none either, never fancied having a tat - I do seem to remember someone having a tattoo which read "I said I never would, but I did, and here it is to prove it" they had this tattooed on their arm. I think it may have been DDW   Well done Oxide for being accepted into the RMB

Well done Oxide........

On the tattoo, I would have said "Go to 'Painless Jeff's'" (Never was a shop name less appropriate).
Nearly all of us went there in in the 60's and 70's, but.....he is no more.

A little bit of advice.
Wait until you've been in a little while, then make a decision.

Congrats Rusty..  I'm sure you'll love your new career once the shitty bits are over.

I'm another one who managed to resist any tattoos (apart from the Edinburgh one), and to this day I'm glad I did. I was often tempted to have my blood group printed on my high upper arm, in case I was drafted into some dangerous territory like Liverpool or Cowdenbeath. However I'm glad to say I never had the need to use such a first aid    well.. aid really, and I wouldn't go committing too quickly to any form of body decoration unless you're absoloutely sure....

IF the tattoo goes wrong, it is a self inflicted wound. If you have one before you join it will be on your medical records. I have them and don't regret any but remember hygene and really nasty things that kill you from dirty needles

Glad you made it into our large family. On one of many occasions, I got really drunk and decided to get some body art but the Tattoo parlour was closed. I took that as an omen and never tried again. Save your money and buy a bottle of Pussers rum. That will give you all the colour you need.

If you DO decide to get one (and why not, it's your choice) just make sure it's something that youi're pretty sure you'll still like 40 years down the road...

...Hmmmm, I know "Pussers Rum!!"

So many people have put names of loved ones on themselves - and no longer love 'em.

If I remember correctly 2nd Clarinet, Hornblower and myself all have the same tattoo, which we paid £1.50 for and then got a £3.00 fine for having it. !!!

Summat like that BB!

Got 2 on me left upper arm (bicep) so that they wouldn't get spotted in shirt sleeve order.

One's a dagger and one's a swallow. (NO Rab, don't go there OK?)

Got caught anyway along with the rest of the wing when we all had to strip for inspection.

LOL!

Same here....Tatt on Left Upper Arm, of Dagger, £3.00 fine (lot of money in those days)

Who was the NCO who lined us all up outside the wing and went along slapping everyones upper arms?
Those who winced, had to take one step forward.
Those who had them on their lower arm were just told to step forward.
