This person is my GGG Grandfather
1. James Hooper was born 1778 in Shepton Mallet, Somerset, England
2. Occupation  1841 in Quarter Master Sgt - Royal Marines - Band Master (East Stonehouse Royal Naval  Barracks) ( the Hooper Family lived in the Barracks)
3. Residence 1851 in 2 Hoe Place, Plymouth St Andrew, Devon, England (Greenwich  Pensioner)
4. Died 1862 in East Stonehouse, Devon, England
What would have been his duties? I wonder if he sailed in the time of Napoleon?
How did he live and under what sort of conditions? You might not know these answers, but as he is such a feature in my family tree, I am fascinated by him. I cannot to date find any records of him and his career. This info is from the Census and his son’s death certificate
Thanks Val ( Hooper)

Hi Val, Try the public records office website. Old Royal Marines service records are held there.
