Absolutely fantastic Billy. I remember performing this at a winter concert once. Relatively easy for the Clarts in the orchestra......fast forward a few years to playing it in Military Band format in FOSNI......deep joy, it took me days of hard practise to master it!
If I remember correctly Paul Luford had mastered it in a matter of hours (fantastic musician) and now he has transfered to the dark art of brass playing!

After the troops had been landed on the Falklands, the Canberra steamed away into safer waters. It had been a hectic day and it was quite late when i slid into me pit. I was sharing a cabin with Bill Sabine, Henry and Geordie, so there were a few "sleeping" noises being produced.

Geordie had with him, a fairly new gadget, a Sony Walkman, which he loaned to me. As I said, It had been a hectic day and i was having trouble winding down, so i played the tape that was already loaded. It had the calming effect i was seeking but i liked it so much, I kept on playing it over and over until i fell asleep.

To this day, when i hear it, i am still reminded of that moment.

I believe Pedlar paid about £60 for them. A lot of money in the early 70's.
