Absolutely fantastic Billy. I remember performing this at a winter concert once. Relatively easy for the Clarts in the orchestra......fast forward a few years to playing it in Military Band format in FOSNI......deep joy, it took me days of hard practise to master it!
If I remember correctly Paul Luford had mastered it in a matter of hours (fantastic musician) and now he has transfered to the dark art of brass playing! _________________ Remember! If the enemy are in range, then so are you! |

After the troops had been landed on the Falklands, the Canberra steamed away into safer waters. It had been a hectic day and it was quite late when i slid into me pit. I was sharing a cabin with Bill Sabine, Henry and Geordie, so there were a few "sleeping" noises being produced.
Geordie had with him, a fairly new gadget, a Sony Walkman, which he loaned to me. As I said, It had been a hectic day and i was having trouble winding down, so i played the tape that was already loaded. It had the calming effect i was seeking but i liked it so much, I kept on playing it over and over until i fell asleep.
To this day, when i hear it, i am still reminded of that moment. _________________ Once a Bugler, always a Turtle !! |

I believe Pedlar paid about £60 for them. A lot of money in the early 70's. _________________ Once a Bugler, always a Turtle !! |
