I had a 'mini-reunion' this morning!

I popped into Deal for a few bits & bobs and within 30 minutes I saw:
Ken 'Ginge' Glentworth (Cornet/Violin?) Richard Baker (Euph/Cello) Tony Martin (Ex-DL/Singer) Ivor Crocker (Ex-Violin Prof) and John Perkins (Cornet/Violin/Baton)

Not necessarily in that order!

Are the Silver Trumpets still playable?

I ask this in all sincerity as a non brass player.

I hope this may answer your question, Nick?

''The memorial, 14 silver trumpets, was paid for by the comrades of those who died and were in regular use at remembrance occasions until they were 'blown out'. Replacement trumpets are now used. The original banners were blue but the banners for the new fanfare trumpets are red. A War Memorial Charter strictly governs the way in which the Memorials are used, played and referred to. The 'Memorial Silver Trumpets of the Royal Marines School of Music' together with the Silver memorial Drums are now on display in the Royal Marines Museum, Eastney''

This is a link to where I found this item plus lots of other photos referring to AC Green and the RMBS & RNSM:
