That name's very familiar Billy, but I can't quite think where from. Need some more prompting from some of the other silly old farts mate...

Henry told us the story of Dip Hillman, who after his 'Tot of rum' and many others, was rather annoyed when he was trying to get a bit of afternoon shut-eye (In bed, or out of barracks we used to say!)

Henry had his record player on full-pelt and into the room entered an angry Dip, poker in hand. He ripped the plug out of the wall by its lead, smashed the plug into a hundred pieces and waved the remains in front of Henry saying...'' Now play the b'stard!''

This old fart can remember Dip Hillman, he was a very nice guy so please be a liitle respectful he certainly was not a dipstick. Dip was a Solo Clarinet player I think, he may have been on the violin as well. But I dont know anything about the old fella he sees to have disappeared, I know that Mike Jones has been searching for him for ages to no avail. I am not spitting my dummy out but a little respect lads if you didnt know the guy dont dis him.

Let's rewind here.........

I said: 'Did anyone come across Dip Hillman?'

Botty said: 'He was a bit of a Minx' (Ha Ha!)

I said: 'Dip Minx....I don't get it?'

Botty said: 'Dipstick'

Therefore....(wait for it, wait for it!)

He was calling me a Dipstick....

And that concludes the case for the defence m'lud!

I think it was a case of San Miguel V Common sense.
Thanks for clearing that one up Bill, for the cerebrally challenged member of Lower Alhambra.

I, too, have fond memories of Henry, spinning yarns to us younger inliers up at the Stonehouse Vaults.  He was amusing to sit with in the galley for mealtimes as well.  And no-one who ever saw the lobster returning from his bath-times will ever erase the sight from their minds.
