Hey all, I'm thinking about signing up having decided that secondary teaching is definately not for me! I'm coming to the Mountbatten Festival tomorrow night as my DoM is conducting (Dave Cole) so really looking forward to hearing you all! He's given me loads of advice about signing up and lots of practice in late night drinking on training weekends! any other general advice would be greatly appreciated though. Maybe see some of you in the bar afterwards tomorrow night! x

Welcome Twinklnotes. As you know, everyone is on MFM at the moment but im sure on their return you will no doubt get some advice and responses. In the mean time try looking at the Blue Band site (click the link below) and have a look at the recruitment section. Good luck.

Best of luck Twinklnotes with the recruitment process. Dave Cole is a top fella and one of the best DoM's the RMBS ever had. He is a true gent and was always very approachable by all ranks.
I hope that you enjoy(ed) the MFM as much as concert goers usually do. It is some years sinec I have managed to attend. However, it is without doubt one of the spectacle of London concert nights out during the course of the year.
Regards Kratos. _________________ Remember! If the enemy are in range, then so are you! |

Join the club Twinklnotes, I presume as DC is your DoM you're with the RBL. If so, give my regards to Paul Collett, I hope we'll see him at the All Stars concert next month which DC is conducting. _________________ Waving, not drowning |

Dave Cole knows what it takes to make the grade and if he says go for it then I'd follow his advice. Get yourself down to the careers office and make a start. You will sail through the entrance exam unless you have a huge mental block. Then you are in the system and in the hands of the medical board and then the audition board. Don't forget you need to be fairly fit so get your trainers out! _________________ http://www.royalmarinesbands.co.uk

Thanks for all of the advice guys.....really helpful...DC has been bugging me for about a year to do it but only just taking him seriously...will definately have to get the trainers out though!
Have put piccie up in the coffee boat now as you suggested - don't laugh!
Maybe see some of you tonight if you're there - I know DC and I are meeting for a drink afterwards so if you're around I'm sure he won't mind you joining in
Thanks again x |

Good luck Twinklenotes.. I was in the same instruction class as Dave when we joined up. He was a superb bloke then, and his worthy promotions never changed him. He was one of the hardest working guys I ever knew.
In fact he used to make me tired just watching him.... _________________ 'Never moon a werewolf'. |
