On behalf of Eric Hayward......
For those interested, we in Australia are holding our fourth reunion of exRMBs and associated RAN. Started in 04 with 5, last year 19 this coming March 24 so we are building. however some of us are putting on a few years and it will be a great pity if some young blood is not infused.
Dates are 28th 29th and 30th March 2008.Venue is Glenelg, Adelaide, South Australia. Its nice in Oz at that time of the year. Contact either me or Bob Chumley on chummers @ optusnet.com.au
You know the drill, See you in the counter march. _________________ The Royal Marines Band Service on line |

| I'm sorry but I don't remember saying thankyou for transfering this message for me. However it doesn't seem to have helped in the replies too much. Does no one else know of this particular site? |

Eric... ..Please don't panic matey.. I can assure you there are MANY Old Comrades sweeping this site, but it's just a part of the 'January Blues Syndrome' that sets in for now.....
Have a closer look at some of the threads over the past couple of years, and you'll see that this is THE site to visit for 'fun RMB' and instant recognition...
I won't pretend there are too many prepared to jump on a tin bird and sweat themselves to Aussieland for a reunion with our family, as some won't even jump in a taxi and come to an extremely well organised smashing get together in Pompey...
Your unedited views are well aired on here chum.....
And I hope your numbers grow in Adelaide..(or however you spell it). _________________ 'Never moon a werewolf'. |

Thanks for your reply. Has just been brought to my attention that I transcribed Bob Chumleys email address incorrectly, should read chummers@optusnet.com.au
Will keep fingers crossed for response to our messages. We don't expect great influx from UK however seeing FOUR from UK have confirmed they are coming we feel we should keep reminders going through this site.
Appreciate last comment as to where our friends are!!!!! |

Thanks RAB. Seems like we are all waiting on the Lotteries.
Do I know you?? I joined 1952 left 1965, spent next 27 years flying around in Hercules with RAAF Central Band.
By the way, Dan Archer is one of the attendees this year with the New Zealand contingent.
Cheers

Funny how things can come to a dead stop. However I will keep trying to make contact with any of those I had the pleasure of serving with. Some take the time to answer, others choose to ignore. thats life.
Attendies at the coming Adelaide reunion now stand at 30 with two serving members coming from the UK to make a presentation to Ted Jones, one of the two known survivors of the RM Band of HMS Exeter which was sunk in the Battle of the Java Sea on March 1st 1942. Unfortunately, Tom King, the other of the two survivors who lives in Kent, will, due to ill health be unable to come out, although we had hoped to make it a special reunion for the two of them. Will defiately keep those who are interested posted but hopefully there will be a full report in the Blue Band Magazine. |

Eric... Please don't think that of any active members on this site..I can assure you that despite however how busy our core or 'Corps' members on here may be, our hearts are (and obviously our memories) with our wonderful family which was and still is RMB.. The uniform's still the same. The Cap Badge is still the same. We even still play the same old wonderfully reminiscent marches..(Army of The Nile's my fav...)...The difference now is that we're living outwith reaching distance financially and territorially, we should take the advantage of keeping in touch by whatever means possibly....
This IS a god start!!!!

| Have just received a message by private email from Nobby (Herman) Clarke, inquiring about Rodney Colbourne last seen by me in 3rd Cdo Bde in February '65. after which I returned to the UK for discharge. Does anybody know whether Rodney is still with us. I of course hope that he is still alive and well. |

Eric matey.. I'm one of the 'older' members on here, and I can't help.
However, be assured, this site gets scanned by many many Family Members who don't get round to posting very often. I'm sure if any members have any info, they WILL contact you. The beauty here is that your post goes live instantly, and unedited. We do pride ourselves in the fact that if we can help, we most certainly WILL..The way it's set up gives you the option of private or public, and I wish you every success with your request.
I do hope the Aussie reunion goes well, and please keep us posted on the outcome.. (or even during the event)..
Hang on in there buddy... _________________ 'Never moon a werewolf'. |

Sorry to 'Double-Post' but it looks like the Aussie Reunion has all of a sudden been promoted to the rank of 'fabbo' by the input from this side of the Sunshine...
I know of at least one 'unexpected Bulger' who has fed his face on Nasi Goering (never could spell that) en route to what I'm sure will be a brills couple of days.....(hope it didn't come out of the Band Fund)
...... and guess where you'll get the first unedited..??? full report of the gig..?????
Have a ball lads... And wear factor 30.... _________________ 'Never moon a werewolf'. |

Full details of weekends events will be in the BLUE BAND MAGAZINE plus writeup on Dickie Valentines site. Now we start arranging the next reunion for March 2009 |
