Shippers....Matt Gates signing on.

I was chatting to a couple of serving band members the other day and they urged me to join in. I was waiting for the 3 beat rolls but with Lt Col H conducting I had no chance......." Gates if you continue to come in late you'll end up at FOSNI. This IS the STAFF band you know.......I have certificates for my conducting"

6 monthst later I was at FOSNI.....nights out with Peck, Chalky and the Loon. Never looked back.

Here's to all the banter that I no doubt will get. Sandy Bottoms!

Aahhh Gatesy!

Crikey, it's been a while.... The old derelict inliers block at Caledonia when I joined from Fleet Band in '93 I Think.

Hope all is well with you?

Cheers Jos

You're spot on with the date. I left in November '93 and went home to Norfolk and joined upwith a different uniform. I couldn't even spell Pleeseman when I was in the Marines and now I are one!

Gatesy.

Welcome Gatesy.. .I was well away from FOSNI by the time you were promoted to there lol

What GH never realised is what fun it was to be there after he left... And I wasn't letting him into the secret.....

Mr JPig

Many of the guys in Nelsons County are mad keen on sitting on the beach all night in oilskins. very strange!

Welcome from me too Matt.

Hope your stay is long and memorable. The more people join in with their dits and comments the better it gets. Good for you mucker.

You know a bit of my history via pm, so I won't bang on.

What d'ya play? (Or what did you play?)

To be honest, I don't even want to play fetch with him

Hornblower....nice to hear from you again, you have made me feel most welcome.

I was Solo Clarinet, played alongside Jan Dale and Dave Sharp at CTCRM, then under study to Dusty Miller at Staff band ,then led with Paul Luford at FOSNI.

Fantastic time at all three bases....met some very decent chaps who appeared to have remained so even through dificult and constantly changing times!

Cheers BB. Fun times in the early/mid 80's.....I remember you well. Andy Cunningham was my instructor, I believe he is teaching and gigging in the Medway area?

So your Mum & dad are still in Sandwich too! Coincidence so are mine! Did I miss the punctuation mark? They are retired and living the high life....golf at Princes, spending the inheritance......chunter chunter. You've got a good memory!

They attend the Deal Bandstand gig every year.......dad says," Ooh I saw....no can't remember the name, he plays/played (describes instrument and individual).....he threw up/swamped in our garden....chatted your cousin up and made a complete hash of it" I raise my eyebrows and say," Typical bandy."
