my eldely sister (I am 75 she is 82) tells me in mums old house during the war there was a picture of dad in royal marine bandsman uniform at the top of the stairs his name was john henry hopkins Iknow after the war dad was a entertainer with concert parties in the Southampton area how can I find out if he was a bandsman at 75 years of age I do not relish a trip to London records office any help greatfully accepted alan hopkins dad was born in 1900 and if he did serve it would have been between 1917and 1920
