For the uninitiated:
A whole bunch of us would go to every pub we could in Gillingham and have a half of bitter.
Easy
Maybe it would have been if we didn't run from pub to pub (every step of the way) down the half-pint in one and then run straight out to the next one.
For those of you that don't know Gillingham - I've never known a place with so many pubs, there was one on virtually every street. There was no way we had to go and do a pub twice.
I of course was a lightweight - never could run. (Well, not without vomitting!!)
They really were the days..... (not that I remember too much about them)
I later did a variation on a theme when I went to Dartmouth - similar thing but with Guinness No running there though, so I fared a bit better - 15 pints in a night was my best - but the record (Steve Shutt's I think) was somewhere in the region of 20.
Ohhhh, the next day was always a long one. _________________ Know their knot!

Well, thats the marathon finished!!
For those of you who missed it on telly, it was the biggest in the races 27 years, with 36396 official finishers on sunday. It was also the warmest in the races history which accounted for the amount of people not finishing the distance!! And it really was that hot!!!!
Anyway, to the important bit: We both finished, myself in 3hrs50mins13secs, coming 5960 and Kev was just behind in 3hrs51mins34secs, coming 6190. It was an amazing experience and if anyone out there thinks that it looks good on telly, its brilliant doing it!! Still a little stiff but not too bad! Plymouth half marathon in a month!!
Thanks to all for the support and donations for REACH, close to reaching £3000.
So, as they say, until next year!!
Thanks again

Good effort Egor & Kev!
You say you're a little bit stiff?
Now.....did you warm up and do some stretching exercises before the race?
If you didn't, I think you'll find that's why you have a few aches & pains.
RMBS Forum Marathon Team next year?..............NAH!! _________________ Nill Illigitimi Carborundum |

Outstanding effort chaps!!
Does the marathon count toward the BFT? You should put in a chit saying you did 8 BFTs back to back on TV and should be excused the next 8! Fat chance!! _________________ http://www.royalmarinesbands.co.uk
