How long ago are you looking at going mate? Ive got a mate up here who was a Drum Major of one of the bands but Im not sure if he was was a Volunteer Bandy or not. Or is that the same thing? I know he took up the Bugle when he was in training for the extra cash!! He also was the Lead drum Major for the last massed bands parade they did I think.

The blue jackets were all serving and ALL wore square rig. They were the forerunners of the RNVBA and did a ship's band type role when at sea. There is little written about their history so it would be good if anyone could mug one of the old boys and rob his dits over a pint or ten. I'm sure they have some stories to tell and will know a little about their history from their memories.
If anyone can find anything out it could be passed onto the museum.
