Having read the memories of RMSM earlier, my fading memory was buzzing and one of the brightest memories I have, was on board the ark in the mid seventies, I can't remember if sean mason was still on board but I seem to think it was just Mick pomery and myself.I won't mention who this is about, but we both used to drink until we dropped on our runs ashore, unfortunately one of us couldn't do anything the next morning, which was difficult when you were duty bugler. This particular morning in the Americas/caribbean, we were alongside somewhere and had drunk to excess again. The duty bugler was roused to go and sound reville, I lay in my pit and heard the tannoy, which was in every messdeck and all workspaces, go click, there was a intake of breath, then a squeak of a bugle, another intake of breath and a sigh, another squeak like a fart, another sigh a bit of a groan and another squeak, then the sound of retching and someone being sick for about a minute, then another squeak before an off click of the tannoy. It was the first time everyone on board took notice of this daily routine and it woke everyone. I know because for the following weeks I was asked by nearly everyone on board about "THAT CALL" The bugler in question(no names no pack drill) won a weeks nines for it, luckily for me meaning I could go ashore every day for the week

Me too Bunky

You painted a great mind-picture for me.

Wish I'd been there to hear it...

That's because you were always in front of the Captain's desk or being Bo££ocked by the C P Zero.

I know the story of this incident, well Botty.

No sense of humour, these chaps.

I hope you told him....."If you can't take a joke, you shouldn't have........"
