Yes, you do get paid for training although I'm not sure how much.

We used to get £3 a week in 1970....

and that's worth about £6 Million today.

I was a French Horn player and served for 26 years and loved almost every minute of it.

What playing standard are you?

Hi Kris and welcome. Always good to see new blood on here looking for advice on joining up. I'd have to say it's not the sort of career you'd take up just for the money, but I'm sure it's a bit more than £3.00 a week nowadays. Your current job would stand you in good stead in RMB, as we're all just a big caring sharing family...(past like me, and present)

Yes you do get paid whilst training. Look up 'Pay scales' on the RN RM website. We've not had a pay rise in a while but it is more than £3 a week... JUST!

Hi Kris, Welcome to this little enclave of all things sane. Hope you enjoy your stay. If you are interested in a career in the RM Band service, you could do a lot worse than to hone your Beret shaping skills as there are bound to be questions on technique put to you during the application process. There is a plethora of information to be found on here in regards to the subject. Forewarned is forearmed as they say.

Kris, welcome to the mad house . Paid whilst training yes you do, probably a little more than some are telling you, they say that they got £3.00 a week they were millionares compared to silly old fools like me, way back then I not tell you how long ago that was but we only got 10 shillings a week, you may have to ask your grand parents to equate that to money today probably less than 50p. But do pursue your gaols it is a great life as you will discover if spend some tome read some of the items that have been posted on this site. Have fun and enjoy.
Adios from a cool 30 degree nice and sunny Spain.
MBT.

Is that a week, not bad eh!!!! have keep up the standard of living Daddy would provide. One has to keep the Porche on the road and of course there is the stabling of the racehorses. Seriously that don't sound to bad, nearly as much as I get from my pensions. Am I to old to rejoin, I suppose I will have to make do with the yearly pilgrimages to Portsmouth, but you young lads know how to look afer us old boy's.
Adios. Hasta Octubre.
See you at the bar again.
