Here are a couple of photos of FOF3 Band with Bob as the BM.  How many members of the band can you name.

Indeed we did have a french horn player.  Bob ask John Payne if he would if he would like to learn and play french horn, so John said ok and he did a good job at it, hope to see him and big Mick B at the reunion in Oct.

On board the Centaur in the early 60's we had 2 horn players. Alan Brown RIP and Granny Grant (the mouth from Louth). we also had 2 percussionists, Bill Pugh & musn Wilson.  .
We also had BSGT "Jigs" Lipple, oboe. How's that for a screwed up ship's band?

If you had Jigs Lipple onboard I doubt if it was the Centaur.  More like the Ark.  (Noah's) Ark.
Nice old boy.

I am getting edgy about coming on this forum. Every time I am away for a while, another old oppo passes on. Bob "spud" for my cornet instructor in the wing, and a nice bloke you could not ask to meet, except maybe my other instructor, John Ware for Piano. RIP BoB. Will lift a glass to you.

Bob was my instructor for a short time, a great guy with a great sense of humour.
My thoughts go out to his family.
RIP Bob.
