Hello all,

I thought it was time I said hello, having spent a few months watching the forum (this one - not the magazine!!).

I went to the Buglers reunion in at Nelson last night. The first one I have attended since 19?? and thoroughly enjoyed seeing so many old faces and a few not so old ones. b'stards - is it only me that feels like one of the old farts we used to laugh about? It really was good to see so many there and a shame that there were more than a few missing. I have to say, it was a vast improvement to the old type of reunion bun-fights and I think, considerably more civilised and enjoyable. The Corps of Drums display was superb and of a standard we could only dream about.

Thank you to everyone who made my evening so enjoyable.

Glyn

Welcome Glyn,
it must be all of 12 hours since I saw you! I hope a few more start finding the forum who were there last night. It was a great night and nice to see so many faces.
Two of the 'ex-boy buglers' were talkning saying that nobody ever believes them that they joined the Corps at age 14. Now them two could dit! I stood captivated for quite some time listening to them before dashing off to do the album http://www.royalmarinesbands.co.uk/pictures/BugsReunion2006/index.htm and take over my duty this morning. Shame I couldn't stay longer but the beer was starting to get too tempting and the plod aren't to keen on drink driving.
If you get half an hour to spare, get your dits out for the lads

Hi Glyn, Brian Starr here (Bootybandy). Glad to see that you made the reunion last night. I'm sure you enjoyed yourself. Deli just mentioned something about "Boy Buglers" joining at 14. I sat next to and spoke to Pete Bradfield at Dick Waterers funeral a couple of weeks ago and he mentioned that he indeed did join up as a 14yr old Boy Bugler. Anyway matey nice to hear from you and hope to see a few of your recollections on-line soon. All the best mate....Bri.

And a big ol' hello from me too.

I haven't been to a reunion for quite some time now, but being here and reading about them definitely gives me the itch to go this year.

Go to the buglers grot and have a look at a photo I'm gonna put there. See if any of them were with you last night...
