I've got the Classic FM tribute to him blasting over my computer as I'm invoicing our dear little students. His singing certainly makes the job more pleasurable.

RIP big man

Absolutely no one could top your Nessun Dorma. (Amongst many other famous arias.)

I don't usually like warbly singing people (male or female) but old Pav certainly had a hand in bringing opera (in a small way) to the masses. I'm sure he will be missed by many and matched by few

Pavarotti knocks on the pearly gates
St Peter opens them and says "oh it's you Luciano, come on in. Squeeze on through".
Pavarotti says "Hold on, I've got an envelope for you, from the Pope".
St Peter opens it up and reads it.

"HERE'S THAT TENOR I OWE YOU"..........

(BTW, I don't like Opera...there's far too much singing in it........but I love the characters and big Pav was certainly one of them)
