You've nothing to feel guilty about. The work you're doing with the young lads is beneficial to them in the short term, and possibly hugely beneficial to some of them AND the Band Service should any of them ever make the big step (downwards ) from Cadet to RMB. You keep doing what you're doing well, and I'm sure we'll all help you in any way we can. [/quote]
I second that wholeheartedly rab.I spent three years in the sea cadets and it realy did a lot for me.we had some wonderful people on the staff from ex naval officers to ex commandoes to serving policemen(who were ex something or other). They were all fantastic people who gave up there time for such as me || _________________ WISDOM IS STRENGH

Here Here!! Les.
I likewise spent most of my teenage years in the Sea Cadets, doing band contests etc all over the country amongst a whole host of other character building stuff. I wouldn't have changed anything for the world.
Keep up the Good work. I just wish that some of the "Euph" of today that I end up dealing with in my present role, took up similar interests and received such guidance as your youngsters instead of devoting all their spare time trying to get themselves an ASBO!. _________________ Raymond Bland is alive and well!! |

You and all those who work with the youth organisations are doing a
bl**dy great job. Often unsung heroes in the towns and cities. Not only
are you giving oppotunities for these youngsters, but by your interests, they
are not indulging in anti social activities. Local authorities really are, or should
be indebted to you.
Keep up the great work lady. |

At the end of the day we seem to have a generation of parents who sometimes can't be arsed. What with that and computer games, playstations etc what hope do the next generation have? Respect and good manners seem to have gone from society in general. Thank God that my kids have taken up music and sport. They are both playing with Medina Marching Band and have now joined me at HMS Nelson RNVB. I too am far from being a perfect parent but my wife and I have always insisted that the kids will not hang around the streets and aimlessly cause trouble. _________________ Play up Pumpy... |
