Just a quick one to say Hi;

I'm Matt Porter, (Richard 'Wolfy' 's son,) and at the moment I'm at the University of Southampton, hopefully joining the Royal Navy as a graduate in a couple of years. (So I expect I'll be posting questions about the AIB in the near future!)

Dad's just convinced me to sign up for the forum and there are a few people I'd like to hear from - We've been wondering if we'll be seeing 'Wiggy' (as he is my Godfather - but not easy to get hold of!) at the Deal beat retreat this July - so if anyone from Pompey could drop me a line that'd be cool.

Cheers,

Matt

Hello Matt and welcome,
I'm not sure if Wiggy is on the Deal gig but I'll ask him next time he is in.

As to the AIB, I can point you to a few places that has stuff on the AIB if you need.

Ahh, My Leaping Porcine friend.......You may rest assured that the Gospel according to the Nobel Bert Shaping Art is well and truly embedded in the life skills part of my offsprings frontal lobe! (Even if he is a budding Matelot Rupert)!!

We can be certain that knowledge of the the veiled mystery of Bertology will continue though the ages for many generations to come!

My Work here is done.

Hello Wolf Cub...The best piece of advice I can give you is to adopt your old man's sense of humour, and you'll do well...

oh..and don't flick peas at the RMB mini-orchestra during Wardroom Dinners...

Thanks for all your posts,

I see my Dad's reputable?? sense of humour precedes him - It's nice to know I'm not the only one who has had to suffer it! :') lol

Thanks Deli, for replying about Wiggy, and any hints about the AIB from anyone would be fantastic! (Please feel free to e mail me with any tips?)

And yes! As an apprentice bert-shaper I've been instructed in the noble art since before I could talk or walk and I never leave home without mine - I'm gonna dig out some more photos from my CCF days when I get a spare sec (I don't doubt I must have a bert close-up some where - which I will post after vetting by my old man) but first I've got to beg forgiveness for the pongo uniform!

By the way, our drums were cast-offs from Royal when the School of Music left Deal!

I'm in the front rank - left file (right hand side in photo) - the one with the perfectly sculpted bert!

Refreshing to see a Fifes and drums band Matt.
It must be a well supported CCF unit.

Looks like a smart bunch......for pongoes.
