CSgt Mark Phillips and BdCpl Kev Harvey of Plymouth band are running the London Marathon this year on behalf of the charity REACH.

REACH is the Association for Children with Hand and Arm Deficiency and supports children that suffer from arm and hand disabilities. The reason that they have chosen this charity is that at least two members of the band service have children that suffer from these problems so they are raising money for that charity. The Reach website is www.reach.org.uk

Anyone wishing to donate or sponsor them can send cheques, made payable to ‘REACH’ to:
CSgt Phillips
Devonport Volunteer Band
HMS Drake

Wow, well, with the length of Igor's legs it should only take him ten minutes!

Just a quick note to slightly alter the address that admin left, any donations can be sent to CSgt Phillips Devonport Volunteer Band and then the rest as Deli put it, will make life easier in the mail office!!

Thanks in advance for any donations received and we will keep you up to date with how we get on!

Is it me?

I can't see any difference between Deli's and yours Egor!

Oi!, Hornblower

I think you should run the Marathon too, on behalf of the 'Don't read the posts properly' sufferers.

I think it would take an effort if Hornblower was sponsored just to eat a Marathon, let alone run one.

Footnote: It would take a good sponsored search to find one, as it changed its name to Snickers some years ago.

With just less than a month before the event, thought I would let you all know how our preparation is going!

Both ran 21 miles last Wednesday in 2hrs 45mins so hope to get in around 3hrs 30mins depending on the crowds.

Have already got over £1000 pledged but hope to get as much as possible!

Will post our numbers in due course so you can look out for us on BBC on the 22nd!!

Many thanks to all those who have helped us so far, it is much appreciated!

Only three days before the marathon so I thought I would post the numbers on the site so those of you that watch the race may get to see us! Kev is 44242 and I am 44243, Kev is short ( about 5' 9") and I am tall ( 6' 7"). We are both on the red start and expect to finish in around 3hrs30. So far we have raised around £2000 and money is still coming in!

Will let you know how we get on next week!!
