You shouldn't give plastic bags to children to play with

Excuse me, but it was a good two years later I learnt to swing twigs around all day for no apparent reason.

When not in massed bands we were part time bulgers without the curtain tie backs.

(The Middy is still boring)

You are far too modest Ffoggy... part time bulger? I have it on good authority that you played 1st on many gigs and the bulgers played seconds!
We had fun on Divs playing the funnies as well

I think my favourite marches are the non- standards... Gibraltar is another one as well as Royal Salute. Dickie Waterer knew how to write a march for the bulgers to get into!

Back to bugle marches. What about 'ALLIED COMMAND' which has been revamped as 'LIONS OF TRAFALGAR'. Now this is an all time yet modern classic.

Hornblower!!

Are you sure about your posting on 25 August

I seen to remember 'High School Cadets' being one of the first marches, if not 'the' first march, we (by we, I mean 3/69) played in the Junior Band at that time.
I can quite distincly remember people like 'Mogs' Capewell, in front of me unable to march and play and keep in line to the front and the to the side, all at the same time.
A trick we all learned eventually, well, nearly all of us.
