US Navy Showband 1973

We were getting ready to perform onstage somewhere in Peru in this very nice theatre. One of our Alto Sax/FLute?Clarinet players was putting his Flute together. For some reason he held it out in front of him and looked through the bore of the instrument. All of a sudden we heard the cocking of several weapons. He looked up with this "what the heck did I do" look on his face as the weapons were being pointed at HIM. They were the security detail for the President of Peru who was coming into the auditorium to meet us.

WhooopS!!!!!

Yeah...I was passing out music at the moment, so I could not be accused of taking aim.

Not that I would notice. But with three different times in South America, I came back with plenty of Llama rugs and other nice trinkets.

No slipper socks??? Oh dear and they hand craft them too.

The socks are normally made by the locals, who are colour blind.........

They hand craft a lot of things. One of the best places was the Mercado Indio just outside the port of Callao near Lima.
