Tim DickensonI,ve just been looking through some of the old threads and noticed Stu Thorns dit about MJ and Tim, and of course reminded me of an incident with Tim & Dave Dawson.
Brought back memories of the Cardiff Tattoo. Dave Dawson was the D.Maj. and "Boots Taylor" D.of.M. Dave decided that he was going to inspect the Band with D.O.M. They both start inspecting the band and come across Tim. Now I'm not sure if it was Dave Dawson or the Boss that said to Tim "Dickenson.... You havn't pressed your trousers", Reply back from Tim "If you can F*****g press them any better then do them.
God I'm even laughing out loud now thinking about it. What Days.

Nice one Addy.
I remember Cardiff Tattoo as well. 1975, it was.
We were accommodated at some educational college in Cardiff for that tattoo.
My 21st Birthday was during this time and having already had a couple and being a bit on the merry side, Mick Hickman spoke to Boots Taylor and got me the day off to enjoy the rest of my beers during the hot afternoon and evening. A very, very hot summer it was.
Thanks Mick (Mr BassTrombone, probably didn't want his number one 'music stand bagger' to fall foul of the two out front or the one, and sometimes two, bringing up the rear).
Memories of strolling from our changing tent around the Castle walls to the main gates, only to hear two, three beat rolls, music starting to play, realising it was the finale and running to join the massed bands already in the arena.
Luckily, as a clarinet player (holder, actually), I was in the rear rank, so I didn't have to cover as much ground as some others........(Twink, Goldy)
Happy days..............
