either that or no-one wanted TS
townsergeant

The simple answer is that there were far more RM Bands, than when I joined.
Wee Mac

When you get the time Tony, have a good look at some of the many previous posts. There are some crackers!!!!!!!!!!

An Emoticon for you
Hornblower

Ha ha! I can add to that list of photos when you were in my section of 4 Titch.

Look out for it, in fact I think it's already on the site somewhere...
Mr Bass Trombone

Tony Richardson

Tony,
Were you not at the Dogend home HMS Pembroke in the mid to late 70s or is there another T Richardson who looks just like you, I am sure that you and I had a few beers together in that era in fact I am sure I can recall a night in the club at Walderslade?????? or am I confused as usual or is this a part of your career you wish to forget?????
Wee Mac

Night club in Walderslade ??????????

If Mick and Tony went there it's probably an exclusive 'gentlemen's club' and only the elite Bandies would be allowed in.
Wee Mac

Ginge, I come from there and there would have been nothing elite, about any clubs etc in that area!

For those who know the area, the Woodsman Pub in Weeds Wood, was demolished a few years ago.  The natives, became too much trouble!!
Ginge Deary

Nothing elite in that area?  I'll have you know Andy Rowett lives in Walderslade!

On second thoughts, that seems to confirm your views. ☺

I didn't venture that far into the jungle when I was at Chatham.  I'd heard rumours of spear throwing.

You don't know, how close to the truth you are !
Only during school holidays though.
Ginge Deary

Is it true that one ex Bandy got a job as a rear gunner on a milk float in Gillingham?
Wee Mac

Also,.....Walderslade village, lies at the bottom of Dargets Hill. At the top, is Dargets Estate, the former Naval MQ's. Lots of Indians lived there !
Wee Mac

When I was about 12 years old, I used to help out on a bread van around the MQ's. Now I know why the Baker used to take so long in some of the customers houses. Lots of OMO packets in windows.

Seems they've increased their territory somewhat over the years and are slowly taking over from the palefaces.

I refer to the natives of that area but you're correct.

Giving yeast injections?
Wee Mac

Ha! Ha ! Meat injections and playing with Mrs Jack's Baps.
Ginge Deary

As long as he didn't leave a bun in the oven..............
Mr Bass Trombone

Tony Richardson

Me thinks it may have been the MQs club?????
Wee Mac

The only other club that I knew of in the area, was the old Working Mens club, situated at the top of Walderslade Hill.
Mr Bass Trombone

Maybe that was it then, it was a LONG LONG time ago. We really need TR to come in.
David Duxbury-Williams

Hey Tony,

Has it shurnk yet or is it still swollen and black.
Northolt 82/83
Mr Bass Trombone

Well please do not keep us in suspendars for to long what could have SHURNK and maybe still swollen or black. Is it black pudding?????
Eric Hayward

I lived at 18 Goad Avenue for the four years that I was in the Band of CinC Nore Command,HMS Pembroke and my second daughter was born in that flat. On the disbanding of said band in 1961 I was sent back to Depot Band Deal and I applied for an extension of occupation of that address only to be refused. I was a little bit P----d off with that decision and had to move family etc to Deal to live with inlaws. However I was pleased to be told that the whole fireplace surround had fallen out two weeks after I had vacated. Justice
Eric Hayward

That was ofcourse 18 Goad Avenue Dargets Wood. Just out of interest I Checked on Google Earth and even from Australia it still appears to be the same. Couldn't see the tree I planted in the back garden though. Perhaps that also fell over.
Wee Mac

Still the same Eric, just occupied by local Numpties etc.

When I was a kid, long before they invented skate boards, we used to ride down Dargets Hill, using me mums bread board and a roller skate. Lots of bleeding knuckles and fingers.
Hornblower

Bloody steep hill that!!!
Wee Mac

A good job, it had a slight uphill gradient at the bottom. No breaks, on a breadboard!!
Wee Mac

The other mode of transport, was a DIY go - cart or Soap box, steered with your feet or a bit of string.

Yes, but the floor was rotting and the string operated the wiper blades
Wee Mac

Fred Flintstones old car then ?
Eric Hayward

I also was involved with a not to be named Greengrocer and helped on his rounds  around Dargets Wood Estate on Saturdays, and being as naive as I was in those far off days,  I never questioned why he was so long in one house on the top road just to collect twobob that was owing from the previos week. Of course on said previos week he had to collect money for the week previous to that. And so on and so forth. I must admit I was offered "favours" but one would never "S---" in ones own nest.
