Please, some help

Hello, I wonder if you could help. I am a trumpet player who started off in the Nautical Training corps in 87. Since then I moved into the Drum & Bugle corps scene and this year I have decide to call it a day after winning the European Championships with the Senators http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GGImZfaY59I . Playing and marching is no problem for me. I also play lead in a Big Band based near Gatwick. I have often thought that I’d like to get involved with a voluntary Military band of some kind, and wondered what I would need to do (and give) to make this possible. I am 32, live in Crawley, west Sussex. I’m really in the dark here so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Fryzers,

I'm sure any of the Royal Naval Volunteer Bands in the Portsmouth area would welcome you! It may be a bit of a trek, but I think Portsmouth's the nearest to you. The vollie bands are made up of serving and civilian volunteers and with one exception are conducted by serving Royal Marines (the one exception is an ex-RM). You'll find a link to the vollie band forum from this site if you want more info.
