Passing of a dear friend: Clive Sproston

It it with deep sadness that I must inform you of the sudden passing of my dear friend Clive 'sproz' Sproston, former Bandmaster & percussionist. Clive died suddenly of a heart attack on the morning of Tuesday 25th Ocotber whilst working. I spoke to him only last week and we were both looking forward to meeting up at Lympnestone next week for a top table lunch and to catch up. Dee Lindars came to see me last night and in shock we recounted our endless Clive stories; we then had a beer and raised our glasses to Sproz, which is what he would have wanted. Clive leaves behind his wife Sharon, daughters Sarah & Laura and two grandchildren which I know he dearly loved. Anyone who is not in contact with the family but would like details of funeral arrangements etc, then please feel free to email me and I will pass on details when they are known. Brian Short

Sad news indeed Brian.
Clive was quite a character from what I remember of him, aways had a smile and a huge roaring laugh.
Our condolences to the family and his many friends.

Really bad news about dear Sproz, I got to know him well on FoF3 and as you can imagine there are loads of dits from gigs and runs ashore that all the guys in the band at the time could spin, and I hasten to add that they are nearly all good memories.
Love it or hate it I personaly feel that it was a great loss to the band service when FoF3 ended.
Anyway I can look back on those times and remember Sproz with a smile now he's gone to the big gig in the sky, bye mate see you later, oh! and get the wets in.

Another Fleet Band mucker goes to the great parade ground in the sky...

I also have fond memories of Spros and he'll be in my thoughts next Wednesday.

Anyone who reads this who'll be in attendance or sees Sharon, please pass my sincere condolences on to her and her family - I'll be very grateful, thank you.

Good times - good memories, Clive will be sorely missed.

Yes Clive and I were on the same BM's course together and I got to know him better during those twelve months than at any other time in the RMB. He was a very fine musician and very capable. I was particularly saddenned to hear of his premature departure from the Table Top of Life.....Bon voyage, mon brave....Booty :O)
