Taff was Bugle Major at Pompey when I arrived there in '79.
This is a wee tale that I'll never forget.
I got done for not getting my hair cut the day before going on Xmas leave, Taff gave me some advice which backfired. At the pre - leave drinks in the band room he slipped me half of my fine and apologised for dropping me further in it.
A true gent.

Tony. R.I.P.

Thanks for letting us know Errol. Tony was from the old school and was admired for his wit and strong being. We often met at Canterbury CC and talked the time away remembering the good and not so good times when serving in the RM. RIP Tony you'll never be forgotten.

That is sad news I knew Taff very well at Deal, last I heard was that he was working at Canterbury Court with Brian "jock" Dunn. Another good stycky blue has slipped his cable and gone aloft.

Taff Angove

I had the very great pleasure of serving with Taff at Eastney he was a Cpl. He then made Sgt. and took on the roll of Company QM. We used to have some great runs ashore. at The time George Castle was Bgl/Maj. Porstmouth. He liked playing Table Tennis.
My thoughts and prayers go out to all of his freinds and Family.

RIP Taff long will the memories last

Cheers Taff!  I remember you being a champion of 'correct procedures' and fairness when acting as Drum Major at Eastney.  Not always an easy path....................

In the countermarch, mate.

Rest in peace Taff.

I never served with you, but if all my old muckers say you were a gent, then a gent you were.

Taff will be cremated on Tuesday 22nd July at 1440. Cremation at Barham, near Dover.
His wife Ann and family have requested that there be no flowers,(except family)
Donations may be made to 'Friends of Deal Hospital'instead. The staff at the hospital
had been marvellous to the family during Taff's short stay with them.
Ann has also made it known to me, that any ex or serving Royal Marines attending, are requested to wear Corps ties and not black ones in his honour.

I had a visit this evening from Brian (jock) Dunn (ex Sgt Bglr RM). He is giving a eulogy at the funeral and has asked if anyone has any dits that he could mention.

Thanks Eastney Hooker for yours. If you care to expand on it or if anyone else would like to add theirs, please email me and I will pass them on.

Thanks in anticipation.

Tony

Very sad news, rest in peace 'Taff', deepest condolence to all his family.
Fond memories of the day he brought a house off me in Deal and carried out a 'Pussers' inspection of the place prior to buying it. But what a gent. Greatly missed.

Taff Angove

I first met Taff when I came to deal for my "audition" and subsequent joining in Sept 67. Had various runs ashore over the years especially whilst serving together in Eastney, when sometimes both he and Ann used to come out and look after me.
It seems quite ironic that he was a part of my joining the branch and was my Bugle major when I left, and both welsh to boot.
He was a great man and a great friend but alas as time goes on we drifted and lost touch although I did meet him at a reunion a few years ago.
Rest in peace mate, till we meet again.

My condolences to Ann and all his family.

I served with Taff in Eastney and on the Yacht. Great bloke to serve with, had great runs ashore and drank as much as we could, as you do.
My condolences to his family.
We'll get to see you again when it's our time to join the big RMB in heaven.
RIP Taff
