Bomber

Hello short fat bloke about bloody time you got yourself on here.
Wee Mac

Thanks for the welcome. Haven't had a computer for long and have been doing most of me searching on the Friends Reunited site. I have logged on to the Blue Band a few times but was unsure about it all. Having a few prob's with trying to get past your on line alias's. Who's Town Sergeant? If it's a secret, send me an email. I wont tell. Promise.  Bilvers, your're wanted up at the UPO!. Wolfie. I left a message for you on the Friends site. Something about Aardvarks. Laundry Road man, see you next week?
bootybandy

Well Mac McCarthy as I live and breath. I see you've managed to find yourself onto the site at last. Great to have you aboard mate. Your dits are waiting to be viewed.
Wee Mac

Does any one know where Fred the Head went?
Wee Mac

Wee Mac

I do not drink gin anymore. I have it injected!
Bilvers

Hi Mac

Yes I owe you for the UPO gag, or was it the other way round?

Still working in Sandquay, BVT, we build aircraft carriers, but not in Dartmouth
Wee Mac

Yes Stu, I did set you up (via the UPO and Reg office).. It's along way up from Sandquay innit ! Chris Piggin has yet to get even for stitching him and a few others with the trip in a Harrier on the Illustrious.    That was funny!!!!!
riknoc310

Welcome Mac. Last I heard of "Fred the Head" he was living in Perterbourgh.
eastney hooker

Mac, I will take this opportunity to thank you for the warm, home made bread you used to deliver to the duty bods on Townstall gate. Cheers.
Nick B

Hello Mac, welcome to the forum! Looks like your trying to catch up on every post on here!
Wee Mac

Yes Nick, you're right! I'm having fun exploring on this site. Even found some photo's of me and some Turtles. By the way Wolfie, I looked at your Stonehouse buglers pics. Can you remember where they were taken?
Oh,.....EastneyHooker, I got a new bread machine now. It even makes jam. Don't use It much now as kids buggered off and made more kids.
Wolfy

If you mean the One with you in yer vest Mac, that was St Davids Camp in Cyprus 1984  a UN Visit we were doing. I remember the UN Medal Parade was a bit of a scorcher and most of us were stood there for hours in the blazing sun with the biggest hangovers this side of Naggers. I think you may have had an encounter with a storm ditch on one of the evenings whilst we were there too??   Oh and I also have a vague recollection of Geordie's jar of prunes which had been soaked in rum?? Ring any bells?
Bilvers

Mac, I'd forgotten the Harrier gag, now that was funny...
Wee Mac

Yeh Wolfie, I remember that trip. We went to Cyprus, the day after we got back from Copenhagen. I was talking to John Ware about it at the Fleet Club Reunion in April. He reminded me of the swimming pool rehearsal.
The band was enjoying the afternoon in someones pool and did not wish to leave when Den Challis reminded us that the band had a "beat the meat" to rehearse. Can't say who thought of It but JMW says that the CoD's paddled through the drum routine in the shallow end and the band were told to follow the buglers on the actual gig. That was it, rehearsal over and back to the pool and the gig was OK too.

Geordie got the rum soaked prunes, off one of the Canberra crew after we had visited the ship not long before.
Next time, I'll tell you how to salute a Greek Orthodox Minister.
Wolfy

Yup! I remember Henry Monagram and Townsarge introducing us nozzers to the Seapigs in the pool on this trip Then there was the Barbecue when the General turned up whilst Henry was doing his bit! Classic!
Wee Mac

prune & rum

I remember when the Brigadier turned up at our bar-b-q. Geordie got him to have a swig of said prune juice. Under orders from Gravy Browning, I spent most of the time, keeping a rat arsed Sgt Bugler( from the Valleys) away from the General
sticky blue

Hi Mac - you got onto the site eventually - well done - have fun - see you at the next reunion

Wolfy

bootybandy

That's the Welsh for you.........
geordie

I remember that trip, we did a fanfare at the Nicosia wine festival then proceeded to drink the place dry. The person from the valleys had to placed in the back of a three tonner to get him back.

Hi Dan, thanks for the welcome. I see you remember that day we made our first visit to D block. In fact we were still in training but had been sent over by Tommy Hanley, to fill in until the Yacht buglers arrived. We were with our Instuctor, Big Ron but for some reason , he only stayed for a day. You were the first person who spoke to me. To this day i can recall your very words.
"You look like an evil little b'stard"  It wasn't too bad there! THe only one to get on my back, was Jock Dunn. He insisted that i should not turn my drum sling , before hooking my drum on. I did it anyway.  WE must have done ok as we got a jolly to the USA on Ark Royal. I heard that it really pi$$ed off the trained buglers who had to do the RT. We also got to meet Tanky and Willie.

That trip was classed as our Ceremonial training and so we by -passed D block and went to Pompey, where Griff began his relationship with Geordie Rowell and Ron Mansbridge. Could never under stand why we had to wear Parade boots to the NAFFI.

PS . I got my first pair of Yacht boots from you.
Now there's a topic , YACHT BOOTS.
Wee Mac

Hi Jack, I was going to reply to your welcome earlier but Doris got me busy in the kitchen.  I think the last time we met was on he 81 RT, when you was acting Stripey and ran the first RM Massed Bands bar. I think you went to BRNC and then you were gone. When did you leave?
jackbarker

Hi Mac

Was in Staaaaffff Baaand then. Joined Deal in 79  after 5 years @ BRNC
