New memberHi
My name is Gary Patterson ( more commonly known in the mob as Paddy Patterson). I was a new entry in the summer of 1971.
Today happens to be my 52nd birthday and my brother has given me a a CD of the Mountbatten Festival of Music 2007 and a DVD of the Military Music Classic Collection Volume 1 featuring RMB. This has prompted me to join the website.
Next year, I will have done 30 years as an Instrumental Instructor within schools in Ayrshire, Scotland.
I'm sure, like a lot of other people, I have good memories of my time in the band service. Time tends to make you forget about the day to day rubbish which happened!
I 'd be happy to contact anyone who remembers me from RMSM Deal, C in C Fleet Chatham & FOSNI Rosyth.

Hi Gary...Welcome to the Forum. We'll have come across each other somewhere in your early days mate. I left FOSNI in '75...
Take some time to read as much a poss, and chuck in yer own dits. It'll amaze you who you'll come across in here.(and I just know I'll get slaughtered for using that terminology)....

Paddy, were you also known as Jock?
(That's a serious question btw)
Oh - and were you in the same room as me, Jock McKinnell and George Morrison (and opposite the room full of repros like Twink Starr, Brian Goldsmith (RIP) and Dee Lindars?)
Where's 'e gorn?

Nah...he was always known as Paddy. Very good Hockey player too. Actually the room I was in was with 2nd Clart, Goldy, Paul Moody, along with Roy Fleming and somebody else who I can't recall at present......!!!!!

Hi Joe90
I'm new to forums and still finding my way!
I do remember a lad, Robin Harwood who joined up with me and in our new entry squad photo (2/71) Robin is standing beside me. But there are some other lads whose names I can't quite remember. Let me know if I've got the right brother!
thanks for the welcome

Hi Dusty
I was in the C- in-C Fleet band from '74 to '76 then FOSNI until '78. I think we know each other from FOSNI band. I was a friend of George Morrison and Ian McKinnell plus others.
Thanks for the welcome

I have been teaching brass in schools since I left the mob and still play my fiddle now and again.

Hi Stan
I had a good laugh at your "I survived Terry Freestone" badge. He was DoM at FOSNI when I left the mob.
Kielerwoche also brought back memories of some totally mental behaviour of some of the guys in the Fleet band. That must have been about '74/'75/'76 for me.
Thanks for the welcome

I don't get it!
How come I don't recognise your name???
Post a mug shot Gary - you'll find the relevant thread in the coffee boat.
Botty remembers everyone and he's so bloody boring he remembers who he was in a room with on any particular date in history.
So I was wrong - I'm not bitter!

That fiver has changed colour three times since I lent it to HB.... It started off with a white one....

Yes that's me in the middle of the cornet section - god, did that take me back!!!
It was great to see so many of the guys again. I still have that amount of hair, it's just a different colour!
Thanks for the memories
