MFM 1996

Does anyone have a CD of MFM 1996? I might be wrong, but I don't think it was actually released on an 'official' CD.

I do have a Cassette Tape of MFM 1996, so please PM me if you have a facility of transferring to CD and I will provide the necessary accoutrements!

MFM 1996 was my last one of many (21 to be exact!) and I think it was one of the best.

The musical programme for the 1996 Royal Albert Hall concert:

Zampa                                           Herold
Gabriel's Oboe                               Morricone arr Perkins
The Two Imps                                Alford
The Peal Fishers                             Bizet arr Rutterford
Sing, Sing, Sing                              Prima arr Price
Shades of Green                             Kamen/Whelan/arr Cole

A Tribute to Sir Malcolm Sargent      Dunn arr Horner
Hands Across the Sea*                    Sousa

Give My Regards to Broadway         arr McDermott
Prelude and Sunset                         arr McDermott
Rule Britannia                                 Arne arr Woodfield

Cheers for the PM Les and I am grateful for your kind assistance.

I guess there are less tracks on the CD due to space, but the listing I gave above is on the Cassette for sure.

I think it is why Gabriels Oboe, which is on the tape but not the 1996 CD, was later released on the CD of 'Unreleased' MFM tracks.

The CD also misses out Elsa's trip to the Cathedral (!) and Fanfare & Allegro (Superb piece!) that were conducted by the USMC President's Own PDM (Semper Fi!)

The tape always had different tracks due to it having 2 sides that had to be of equal length (or as near as possible). I think you'll find that the running time of the tape is over the recording time of a CD. If you get stuck Billy, you know where I am...

Billy, if its any help, Audio I.C.E near the old Drum Major pub convert vinyl records and cassettes to CD.  They only charge a couple of quid.

Heard a buzz they were closing but I don't know if they have yet.

Quirky.

Its all to do with time and space on the cd's (80 mins) whereas the old tapes ccould go up to 2 hour plus all in .I have got a lot of the band music but not a lot of the  MFM recordings but all in all most of what has been done one way or another!!.I am surprised the 100 mins discs never seemed to take off  more so in the recording world !!.By the way there was talk last year of a DVD as well as a CD has anything come  of this ?? .I hope(bill) you like what you get hopefully later on today and it is ok
