I read that the memorial garden at Deal is under threat of closure; is this true?

No, absolutely not true.

The area around the Memorial Garden is currently being developed. (Various houses)

I will take a few photos tomorrow and post them on here.

Thanks very much Billy. I plan to visit the garden this year. Last time I was there it sure didn't look like it does now. They did a brilliant job, very fitting; I know Mike would like it. How did the church burn catch fire?

The adjacent Concert Hall was almost certainly the work of a local arsonist, but no one was ever caught for the offence.

The end wall with the bell-tower still remains and is a fine reminder of what was once there.

I shouldn't say it, but it seems to me any crime committed against the old school of music barracks goes unpunished.

As far as I'm aware, they will leave the frontage (as featured above) as it is.

But then again, the Globe Theatre was demolished whilst nobody was looking...WHOOPS!

I'm all for installing security cameras at the garden. I'm sure the SBS has a few toys we can use.

I popped down to the site of the Memorial Garden late this afternoon, so the photos aren't brilliant as it was getting dark. The chap I spoke to nearby (in between the f's & b's!) said that the end part of the Concert Hall will be repointed and painted. It was obvious that they are extremely sensitive about the Memorial Garden and although work is in 'full swing' I'm sure it will be sorted in the goodness of time.

I will post some other photos soon but this will give you a feel of what it is presently like down there...
