Kenneth 'Polly' Poulson

Kenneth 'Polly' Poulson served from 1938 until 1953. He was a bass player and served in many units and establishments. We have been contacted by his daughter to ask if anyone who remembers him would be good enough to contact him on 01418144565 at the Erskine Bridge Nursing Home. Sadly, Polly who is 85 yrs old, has been taken into the home due to advancing dementure but remembers his days in the band service fairly well. If anyone who remembers him or served with him can call him for a chat it may help him.
Hornblower

It's a sad thing isn't it?

It's good that he's got his memories and that's something we all have in common. I'd call him if I knew him and I'd do the same for any of you forumites in the same position.

I used to scoff a bit at the old boys banging on about their time in the RMBS at gigs, unless of course they bought me a wet!!

But, I was young then and had time on my side...

I did a couple of Navy Days at Devonport when I was in the Police Band and was mightily impressed with the horn players in the RMB that was also there - but I remembered my own attitude to those that used to come up to me when I was 'in' and tell us how good we were etc and made a conscious decision to leave 'em alone. I had a natter with me ol' mate Johnny Payne instead.

I don't have as much time on my side now and I like the fact that we can at least banter with each other, knowing that we're all pretty similar in outlook.

Go on Mick H, give him a ring!!!
