John(Gunner) HargreavesI shed a tear as pass this on.It is with great sorrow to inform you all of yet another stalwart has left us for a higher plane. John(Gunner) Hargreaves(Euph/Cello) passed away around 200 Hrs yesterday. What can one say about John like many others of my age we had known John man and boy, he was the instructor in the wing when I joined in 56, he ran the football teams, he had the parade ground in East barracks marked out as five a side pitch so we could train there cos thas were we lived. He seemed to fingers in every pie. He was a really lovable guy and those that knew him will surely agree with that. He loved Manchester United and I am sure he would have shed a few tears after the defeat last week to Barcelona, as he did back in 58 after the aircrash, I can vividly remember him coming out of what was then the Cpls club next the galley in North barracks crying likea baby having heard the sad news about his team.
John you will be greatly missed by me and many more from the RMB my deepest and sincere condolences to his wife Wendy and to all who knew and loved him in the RMB.

John was my instuctor back in the 50's. A caring NCO with a genuine interest in the welfare of not only his own students but all the boys under training.
We remained friends ever since.
My sincere condolences to Wendy and family.
Rest in peace my friend.

My condolences to Johns wife on the loss of a wonderful man, I had the pleasure of serving with him on HMS Lion, had some great time with and arguments over Liverpool and Manchester UTd, always ended laughing about it all.
