You now need to concentrate on your Capital letters and punctuation marks! Then you'll be ready to sit your exam. Botty, You can start a sentence with the word 'And'. It's just that it was frowned upon by English teachers of the 1960's and '70s who had leather pads stitched over the eblows of their tweed jackets. It was to stop children writing or talking like this; And then I got dressed. And then I went out . And then we played football. And then we scored lots of goals. And then we won. Just as an aside, my English teacher was a Welshman, who spoke it good, he did! Put it this way, I could understand him a lot better than some of the first youngsters I met in 'M Wing' who were from outside London. bootybandy I stand corrected. To attempt an answer to your question, I can think of one very high profile musician that left the RMBS and 'made good' big time. You've probably seen his moniker in here already 'cos all us horn players rant about him, especially those of us who had the honour and pleasure of being around at the time. Frank Lloyd is now professor of horn in a German University (too lazy to research which one right now!) and his brother David went on to become 1st horn of the BBC Welsh. I'm sure there are others, so I'll hand it over to more knowledgeable muckers.   2nd Clarinet A certain, Major Fredrick Joseph Ricketts, comes to mind........ He did well! lesbryan I just wondered how many became professional musicians with orchestras and band .Instead op plods(no offence Andy rab stu) or even probation officers ??   Hornblower Tell you what Les, it's probably easierer to be plod than to be a pro muso. It's a big ol' rat race in the music world and you have to be real good to cut it and make a bit of cash. Some of them pro orchestras treat their musicians like sheep (ring any bells lads & lasses?) After watching a fly-on-the-wall documentary of one of the top London orchestras I decided that I didn't want to be a pro muso after all, it's much better doing it for fun rather than for a living and I still make a bit of cash out of my hobby too. Mr Bass Trombone When I left the RMB just a few years ago now, I went on and achieved something that I would never have done in the RMB, I became a DoM and actually did time as one of them in Deal, Stuart Mc Leod also became a DoM in London, didnt av to av any musical knowledge to be one which was not a bad fing it was great fun, me the same rank as an unmentioable person, and of course several other decent people.
