It's only me.....again

Hello to everyone. I have a feeling I've joined before but after 3 years at sea and all the problems this causes (splitting up with the missus, getting a new one, losing my pc, getting cut off by BT oh and seeboard for that matter and basically being in a day dream for this time) I don't remember my password etc. Maybe Errol could have hacked the server for me? Anyway nice to be back. Now off the ships (hopefully for good or until the taxman finds me) and living in Dover on the harbour. Just finished a 6 month stint on the Marco Polo but thought it was a good idea to get off before it sailed to antarctica (too many penguins) and stay in the warmer climates of Dover.
Been kicked into life and back on this forum after attending Buchy's funeral yesterday. Great to see everybody there. Full house. Standing room only. A great tribute to a great man. Well done to Gary, not only for organising everything for us, but the speech also. See you in march shippers.

Still driving

Hello Nick,
Still driving or are you alight?
Good to hear from you. If your ever in Dover and going through the underpass to the harbour, put a penny in my tin (for the taxman, Quirky told me when I went to see it was tax free but he didn't say when I worked ashore that stopped) Still no problem should find £24000 but 31st Jan. : )

Dave, you're all clear to return. They've cleared away the mushroom patch at the top gate, the ones you put in a beef stew for you and Henry Hall!
davekerr

Mushrooms????

Bilvers, I never got my mushrooms from the top gate always from Mortenhampstead in the woods and belive me they were GOOD mushrooms.
Hello Stu me old mate. Got rid of the black book a year or so ago. Got me in too much trouble and the dates were getting few and far between (until the cruise ships then I would have needed more books). Whats this facebook mularchy??  You want my face in a book? don't know about that. Too many people still looking for me
What about Henry when he was told by Dave Hough that HE HAD to do the beat retreat "high on a hill, hill, hill, high on a , high on a , hill, on a, high, hill................

EH is Male and his name is ***** *****
Errol

Your making it too easy now Deli.
davekerr

I know him as

Hi Deli,
Not a good clue as I knew him as *** *****
Errol I know you missed me. You have missed me since 1977. Tell me someone else that herbert had such a positive effect on?
I remember laughing one day at Eurotunnel during my drivers course when I was struggling with something and the instructer said "hang on, I'll go and get herbert" (there was a Paul Herbert at eurotunnel). I did try to explain my fit of the giggles but I'm afraid civvies humour doesn't stretch that far. See hw far your training went Errol.
Anyway Hooker it was my pleasure as always to introduce you to the cultural side of dartmouth all too often new joiners were just taken out and got pi$$ed. I had to stop going in the ship and dock as the two brothers who had the rights for fishing the salmon in the river Dart drunk in there and didn't take too kindly to me and Jimmy Newlyn netting across the river at Dittisham to take their livelyhood.
Deli....remember Rotterdam and your judging distance at the social????

Jim Newland (not Newlyn as you remember) worked for me until he had to leave, funny he's still getting in the same old trouble , except now with lobster pots!

Have you sussed hooker yet? He played the drums but wasn't a bugler...
eastney hooker

Hi Dave, I might be getting my pubs mixed up but wasn't the Ship in Middle Street, Deal. Charles Hawtrey used to frequent it?
bootybandy

I used to be a part time taxi driver whilst in Deal and used to pick up Mr Hawtrey from his house in Middle Street and drive him to the Royal Hotel?? All of 75 yards!! but he loved his Mum.
Errol

I last seen CH in the 53 Club nissed as a pewt...as usual. He was a very sad man in the end.
Errol

This is a most unusual thread...Dartmouth...Daves car...Charles Hawtrey !!!

The ship

Oh the ship, the ship. I remember going in one day, alone, for a lunch time drink on a sunday and it was packed. I was trying to get to the bar and circumnavigating when I came to one guy sitting way out from the bar and I made the big mistake of asking him "can I push your stool in a bit".

Found my car.
eastney hooker

Was it a nice firm stool or one of those well used comfortable ones?
Errol

So...Did you push his stool in ???????????? If so,how far ?????????
eastney hooker

May I say I have never pushed a stool any distance.   The Ship may have been a wee bit dodgy but the beer was good. They certainly knew how to look after their pipes
