My apologies......

You are right, RMB/179 G. Ranscombe died on 20/08/1916 while serving on HMS Impregnable.
Impregnable was previously kown as HMS Circe and was a 46-gun fifth-rate launched in 1827. She was confined to harbour service in 1866, renamed HMS Impregnable in 1916 and sold 1922.

ADMIN
I cannot find his name in my references or any other entries for the RMBS. Prehaps ADMIN can check with the Museum staff if they have any further details/knowledge of his rank and the circumstances of his death.

For information:
G. Ranscombe is buried in FORD PARK CEMETERY (FORMERLY PLYMOUTH OLD CEMETERY) (PENNYCOMEQUICK).
