Hi all!

Just a quick one to say Hi;

I'm Matt Porter, (Richard 'Wolfy' 's son,) and at the moment I'm at the University of Southampton, hopefully joining the Royal Navy as a graduate in a couple of years. (So I expect I'll be posting questions about the AIB in the near future!)

Dad's just convinced me to sign up for the forum and there are a few people I'd like to hear from - We've been wondering if we'll be seeing 'Wiggy' (as he is my Godfather - but not easy to get hold of!) at the Deal beat retreat this July - so if anyone from Pompey could drop me a line that'd be cool.

Cheers,

Matt

Hello Matt and welcome,
I'm not sure if Wiggy is on the Deal gig but I'll ask him next time he is in.

As to the AIB, I can point you to a few places that has stuff on the AIB if you need.
Errol

Hi Matt, and welcome.
Enjoy your visits.

Hope you get all the info you require.
lesbryan

Hellooo there Matt welcome to the site ||||
Hornblower

Hi there Wolfy's not-so-little boy!!

Enjoy your stay and post lots.
Gromit

Hi Matt and welcome on behalf of all the vollies at HMS Heron (HQ for the Fleet Air Arm if you need a hand with WAFU stuff).
MrJpig

Hello young wolf cub. Welcome to the Forum. Post plenty young fellamalad. Has the art of Bert shaping been passed from Father to son me wonders?. If so, spread the word far and wide among the RN...THEY NEED IT!!

Wolfy

Ahh, My Leaping Porcine friend.......You may rest assured that the Gospel according to the Nobel Bert Shaping Art is well and truly embedded in the life skills part of my offsprings frontal lobe! (Even if he is a budding Matelot Rupert)!!

We can be certain that knowledge of the the veiled mystery of Bertology will continue though the ages for many generations to come!

My Work here is done.

"Nurse???? I am ready for my bed bath now"!!

ZedHorn

another hello from Heron... once you've joined up, grab yourself a triangle or a kazoo and come join the volly sector! we all love our band officers...

Hello Wolf Cub...The best piece of advice I can give you is to adopt your old man's sense of humour, and you'll do well...

oh..and don't flick peas at the RMB mini-orchestra during Wardroom Dinners...

oh, and always send them a case of beer afterwards. They really appreciate that small gesture....
MattPorter88

Thanks for all your posts,

I see my Dad's reputable?? sense of humour precedes him - It's nice to know I'm not the only one who has had to suffer it! :') lol

Thanks Deli, for replying about Wiggy, and any hints about the AIB from anyone would be fantastic! (Please feel free to e mail me with any tips?)

And yes! As an apprentice bert-shaper I've been instructed in the noble art since before I could talk or walk and I never leave home without mine - I'm gonna dig out some more photos from my CCF days when I get a spare sec (I don't doubt I must have a bert close-up some where - which I will post after vetting by my old man) but first I've got to beg forgiveness for the pongo uniform!

By the way, our drums were cast-offs from Royal when the School of Music left Deal!

I'm in the front rank - left file (right hand side in photo) - the one with the perfectly sculpted bert!
Errol

Refreshing to see a Fifes and drums band Matt.
It must be a well supported CCF unit.

Looks like a smart bunch......for pongoes.

Errol

Good idea Wolfy............but
there is the problem of finding people
with a heart first.

Has Hornblower come out of the closet or rather
Pusser's grey locker in his case.
Hornblower

You fishin' Errol?

You seem a bit tooooo interested for my liking!!!

Errol

Oooops sorry Stu,
Got my men mixed up.

Not a problem normally.
Hornblower

S'OK m8 - I just didn't want you to go onto make the ultimate transgression and call me Taff!!!

It's OK everyone, you can move on - nothing to see here. Emotional damage only...
Errol

Nice hit HB.
Thought I may have to check my mail for a moment.

'me thinks' HB is not from that unpronouncable place
ending in gogogo !

Do you mean this one Errol.

Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch
Wolfy

Is it me or has my lads thread been hijacked by the Forum Massive??

(Of course it would never enter my mind to hi jack a thread)!!!
MrJpig

Two tourists driving through Wales pass through Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch and start a heated debate on how to pronounce it.

They stop for food and ask the assistant "can you please say very slowly how you pronounce the name of the place we are in?"

She leans forward and says
Spoiler:

"Burr-gurr King"

Wolfy

Thats more like it Andy. If you are gonna hijack a thread, that's how it should be done. I bow down before the master!!
MrJpig

Re: Hi all!

Cheers Wolfy mate

You have to be able to speak proper though!! Have I just bitten again or did you really not know???? (I always believed you had orrificer potential so I assumed you knew) Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh!!! I'm saluting you now!!
MrJpig

ME ?? AN OSSIFER ??? NAAAAAAAAAAAH not a chance mate......only of the law!! WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH.
MattPorter88

I think I'm gonna give up on this thread, hijacking is one thing, but this one's been bagged and tagged and I'm waiting by the phone for the ransom demand!

Anyway I'll take some hijacking tips from me'old-man (I'm learning from the best!) Who know's where I'll end up!

On a serious note, if anyone who has experienced the AIB first hand has any advice I'd be glad to hear from you...

My new email address is... (removed following a troublesome episode of common sense - see below!) - good point though, thanks! I'll stop being lazy and put my addy where it belongs...

bootybandy

I'm sure a bot will pick that email address up nicely thank you very much. Stand by for Viagra and Cialis emails.
MrJpig

So YOU are the BOT that sends these e mails out?? I wondered
bootybandy

Waaaaahhhh I thought Stu would have been first to pick up on that little foible....
Wolfy
