Hello

Hi everyone,
Just thought I would take the time to introduce myself. My name is Adrian (Addy) Harper. I joined the Corps as a Junior Bugler on the 22nd August 1972 at the Depot in Deal.
John Satchwell was the Corps Bugle Major, and some of our Instructors were Dave Aves, Robbie Everndon (always good for giving you a crack around the head, felt it many a time) Jock McCartney, Jim Trewern (hope I’ve spelt it right) and Dennis Challis. There were eight Buglers in our intake the largest there had been for a while, and we all passed our B3 exam apart from one who left before completing training.
My 1st Draft was to the RM Band C-in-C Fleet, Bugle Major Paddy Weeks and Drum Major Andy Crofts at the Helm. Director of Music was Capt. Peter Sumner. The Germans of Kiel loved him. I could go on about other drafts but at the end of my service I was the Last Bugle Major of C-in-C Fleet Band before it got chopped.
Hope I get the chance to meet others on the site and if anyone remembers me, hope they get in-touch.

All the best
Addy

Hi Addy
Welcome to the forum, enjoy
Kratos

Hi Addy I remember your dulcit Black Country tones from my time at Fosni. john O'Connel was the drum major at the time closely followed by Steve Muddiman.
The run-ins you used to have with the DOM Pete Rutterford were legendary, they gave the more junior musicians and bulgers hours of fun.
Enjoy your time on the Forum matey and post often.

Hi Addy and welcome to the Forum..  I knew some of the guys you refer to in my time, and unfortunately had a few run-ins with one of them in particular..  I won't dis any former family member so if you can't work out who I'm referring to, phone ANDY on his new phone and he'll fill you in mate...

Hello and welcome Addy
Hornblower

Hey Addy!!!

Good to see you in here you big ol' ABBA lover you. (I bet you've seen the Mamma Mia film twice already   )

I distinctly remember you joining the dogends with Mac Magill who also lurks in these corridors and I'm sure will pick up on your arrival soon.

I'll start the dits off with regards at least one of your exploits and you can finish it off (if you dare!!!!)

We were at Deal for some arcane reason (Mil trg? Massed band?) and you were stopped at the gate by the duty provost Cpl who dragged you in for fighting...

Now - your turn. Tell the good readers the reason for the stop and why you were innocent of the charge.

If you don't - I will...
jackbarker

Was that the blood gulch incident when he came back from ashore with a face full of blood?
Hornblower

That'll be the one Jack Baker.
bootybandy

Just before he starts spinning the dits, I just want to say welcome Addy. Another left footer on the site. I remember spending an enjoyable evening in the mess at Northolt with Addy, before a few people swapped clothing with the WRAF's. Titter....titter...
Errol

Not another cross dresser.......life is never dull in this forum.

A belated 'WELCOME' to the forum, Addy.

Remember you well at Pembroke as a Dogend Bugler.

I can think of lots of trips and gigs together.

I, with Hornblower, Bootybandy are part of quite a large contingent of
other Dogends who are on this site.
You will recognise them from the stories they post or by going thru lots of the posts already made.
They usually give away who they are.

Anyway, enjoy it and keep in touch.
bunky the bugler

Hi Addy, you found it then, have been on my hols again, see you soon

It was a jam "TART" I had eaten, nothing more, no matter what any one says.

Hornblower, are you the phantom (rhymes with anchor) from Copenhagen or the one with the multi coloured pubes?
Hornblower

Probably!!!!!

Hello mate.  Good to hear from you.  It didn't take long for someone to drag up the incident at blood gulch, did it?

Good to see another 2/72 coming out of the woodwork.

All the best Addy.

There's a name Jack "Lee Paye" think she was a Wren, but no not her. The female in question I think her name was Dawn, Bradders will know because I think he got her into bed .
I wonder if blood gulch is still there. It was pitch black, and when I went down on her she only bloody started, well you can figure out the rest.

Well, here's the thing...

I did go to Copenhagen it's true. In fact I went twice and had a stonking run both times. BUT...

I think the place you're thinking of was actually Goteburg. We were in a hotel that wasn't grey with a funnel.

Don't forget (mate) I didn't finish your dit, someone else did!!!!

If anyone can finish the dit you started, then I suppose I'm fair game!

No, NO, NOOOOOOOOOO, Addy.....

You can't do that!

We'll be left on tender hooks never knowing what that was about.

I was on a trip to Gotenburg with Fleet Band.
Was this the same one where I had to drive the ships landrover with all the band equipment in it, to gigs..... and where I used to go around the city driving drunken Bandies, Buglars and Jolly Jacks, back to the ship?
Can't remember the ship's name........

I remember on this trip, some of us attended an all night party given by the British Consulate staff, at one of their apartments!!!!!!
