Hello everyone

Anyone remember me - Jock Davies - 2/67 ne squad Deal.
Hornblower

Hi GD.

I joined shortly after you in '69 - but I don't remember your name.

RAB!!!? This one's for you....
admin

Hello and welcome Graham.
You are a bit before my time, when did you leave?
lesbryan

Hi there geedee welcome |||
bootybandy

Hi GD. What instrument did you play, and how long did you last before you couldn't fool them anymore????
RAB

Hi Graham...I'm really embarrassed here, as I really should remember you. Although I joined in 3/67 squad, and was in Gloucester House, we MUST know each other. I've had this problem with a few people recently, and the problem lies with my memory and not disrespect mate...

Welcome to the site, and let us know all about you...

Could this be you here..???

That's what I call a quality picture Rab. Nice and clear, don't need glasses or a spy glass to see peoples faces. I wish other people could place pictures like that on here.

oooops

just spotted the other 16 responses to my original message - sorry guys wasn't ignoring any of you

Here are the answers

I left in 1968 - i was a percussionist under Bandmaster Mick Stone and along with musos - Jamie ?? - Holiingsworth ?? - Dick Soulsby - Bob "scouse Lucas and Bob Pritchard.

My first room leader was bugler Geoff (?) Pickering then later ? Rose.

In my room then was a lad called I think Bagnall and a belfast guy by the name of McDermott.

Also in my fist room was Pringle who I actually met in London circa 1971/2 after he had left.

In Rab's photo are Paul Bowden who was a local guy from Dover and also lad called Ives.

Full squad was as follows:-

McGarr - Jones S - Holland - Lucas - Jenkins - Morgans - Jones J - Butterly - Pringle - Brown - Towers - Evans - Bowden - Ryan - Iles - Ward - Clark - Howarth - Mumford - Webster - Thompson - Carroll - Soulsby - Pritchard - Lavery.

Ouch my solitary brain cell hurts.

You must be Jones J then.

RAB tells me that they served together in Scotland and that he is now back in his hometown of Dundee.

I've not seen him since 1968 but would like to contact him again

just  wondering booty ,is the swordfish still serving stubbington and the rest of lee on solent ,and yes 19_26 was agreat lager
bootybandy

Ah, alas the Swordfish is no more Jonas. It was laid flat about four years ago, and now there are about 8 luxury homes on the site. Excellent views across the Solent to the IoW. I must admit I do sometimes miss the Swordfish and it's dark wooden interior. Full of character. Also the Captain of Daedalus's House is no more. This also being taken over by about 30 flats. Shame....

Paul was a really close friend of mine.. A wee story...

When I arrived in Deal in '67, I was given some scratchy blankets etc. and told to make my bed. This guy, (Paul) , who had arrived a few days/hours earlier offered to help me in my quandry, and I couldn't understand a word he 'sung'...

I had NEVER been south of Edinburgh before then, and I thought he was from some foreign land. Strangely enough once I got used to this melodic form of speech, some of my greatest friends in RMB originated in the Valleys, (including the famous RYAN lol) and I would dearly love to get in touch with one of the sweetest toned cornet players ever to place cold brass on his lips...Paul was such an exceptional player and run ashore..

POLL.......Was this a Corny or Cornet Post..?????
TAFFJONES(JONAS)

in touch whith both of them townsergeant, paul was the one i was talking about, will see him wed night rab and tell him you want to get intouch

...Yep Bri.. you're right as usual mate. I think John's double clicking his submit or has a v slow puter...

But hey ho. There's always a friendly MOD on hand to dig him out..

To be in touch with Paul again would no doubt release some Dits I have deliberately witheld..

we go back a long way..
TAFFJONES(JONAS)

give me a chance booty, even older than rab, will talk to my daughter tomoro and see if she can put me on the right track, untill then tara tara tara

Didn't know Paul that well, but I remember him being one of Walter Hargreaves' boys (or boyos!) Gerald was nearer my era and I served with him in Plymouth Band for a few years.
TAFFJONES(JONAS)

Far too pretty to come from Cowes. I'm so glad I live on the other side of the river in East Cowes.
