Hello all

About time I did a formal intro. Have been a member for a while.
Born just after the war ( before the comments, humour and banter- WW2), in Chatham. My father took me as a young lad to any event with a Royal Marine Band.
So I have a lifetime of enjoyment, appreciation and admiration of the Band Service.
As posted elsewhere I have a reasonable collection of recordings.
I had a successful career in the Fire Service for 26 years and served on stations with Doug Lithgow and still serving John Aylemore ex Band Members. I became pals with John Griffiths and attended his Retirement Top Table Luncheon at Deal and am still in contact.( Someone has to). Tried to keep it short.  That’s a start , Thank You .

Welcome to the Forum, Chiefspotter.

Nice to have the formal introductions out of the way.........

As you have already seen in the replies to your posts, lots of humour and banter on here from the members.

Don't take us too seriously and enjoy.

Keep your posts and comments coming.

Hi Chiefspotter!

Good to see you and welcome.

Do you still live in the Medway area?

Was it you that used to bring Simon Snorkel onto the parade ground at Pembroke?

I have been living in Northfleet since 1974 but quite often go into Pembroke now and again. The parade ground you talk about, was it near the Drill Building? This is now part of the University of Greenwich.
Not guilty regarding Simon, I served most of my time at Gravesend or Dartford.

The drill hall has now been converted into a library facility shared by Greenwich, University of Kent and us here at Canterbury Christ Church University.
