George Sketcher

Once again I have some sad news to report. George Sketcher(Alto Sax/Violin) recently pased over to the ever growing massed band where ever it may be. George was agreat guy and an excellent instrumentalist. and had very good sense of humour, a jocular chap one would say. I don't know a lot about him we never served together and like most we crossed on the field at South Barracks. My condolences go out to all members of his family and to all who had the pleasure in the RMB to know him and serve with him. RiP George another name to add to the list next week when we shall raise our glasses to ABSENT FRIENDS.

George was also an excellent boxer as well as a good musician.
He was in the "J" Wing boxing team and did a good job in comps from what I can remember.
RIP George

Sorry to read about George. We served together out in Singapore. Always had a smile and a witty remark.
RIP George.

A great bandy jazzer around the bazars and well known taxi driver of Deal also. Only had people ask me about him yesterday in the pub so will pass on the sad news.

I have just read the East Kent Mercury to hear of Georges death on the 26th Sept 2009. So sad. A great Sax player, who I served with in Staff Band in the 70's. He taught me a lot. Condolonces to all His Family. RIP George

Another nice guy goes to the celestial choir.

We served together at Chatham and I have a particularly fond memory of him whilst we were in Plon for Keilerwocher in the early 70's. It's not appropriate to tell the dit here and now.

He really was a great guy with a great sense of humour.

Rest in Peace George, my thoughts and condolences go with your family.

My memories of George, are the same as above at Chatham.

Always helpful as a J/NCO to us young uns and I had many trips abroad with him and a few drinks.......!

One thing I want to say of George; unlike other J/NCOs when rounds were due, he would get his hands just as dirty as us lower ranks to prepare for the inspection.

R.I.P. George Sketcher...........

Only just caught up with this one - how very sad.  I knew George fairly well and did the odd gig with him & Phil Hughes etc.  Great fun, great instrumentalist & great socialiser.
Rest in Peace George.
