Don Lusher

Ive just read the sad news on the BBC teletext that Don Lusher OBE died today.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/5151400.stm

He was my Trombone Prof when I joined up and was a superb musician and a real gentleman. I remember playing at my first Open Day concert in 1999 and just being in awe of his playing and just thinking how unbelievable it was that I was hearing him play, nevermind sharing a stage with him.

My thoughts are with his family at this sad time.

RIP

A very sad loss to the music world. condolonces to his family and all that were touched by his genius.

I was listening to the Tribute to Ted Heath arrangement earlier to day and wondered just how much input Don had in forming such a remarkable sounding band. Rest in peace.

I have know Don for over twenty years I was delighted when he was appointed professor of trombone at 'the school' and saddened the day he had to leave. He never had a sour word for anyone, a true Christian. My sincere condolences go to Diane and his family. GOD BLESS YOU DON.
