Does anyone remember - Derek WilliamsEvening y'all. I'm back from my IFA conference in Birmingham.
Whilst there, I was chatting to a fellow colleague, and "small world" stuff, I mentioned I was in the RMB, to which he replied, "so was I".
So, does anyone know or remember Derek Williams. He was solo clarinet but only in from 1962-1966, his last gig being the WCF ?
He now works as an IFA, in Pompey, not a stones throw from Nelson, but doesn't stay in contact with anyone.
He says hello to anyone who remembers him.
Anyone...............?

He's way before my time!
He should go to the reunion if he knows about it. I suppose there are many ex's out there who loose touch and would go if the knew

I agree more people should stay in touch with the family to many people disapear to the dark side when they leave, and then when the inevitable happens so many times you those imortal words I wish we had stayed in touch, or I would liked to have seen before he went he was a really good bloke, we had some great times together. I say get yer backsides to the Reunion dont just leave for special times such as 1989, and the 100th reunion, on both those occasions it was a massed band do, if it can be done then why not all the time providing circustances allow, or is as some have said to me, I dont think I could do it as there are some I would rather forget. We all have that to contend with I say Bollox remember the good times there were more of those than bad. I survived TF for 25 yrs and that aint a bad burden to bare.

Apart from baring my burden (I don't do that sort of thing anymore!) I must admit that I agree with the old boy's comments above.
The reason I stopped going to reunions (I used to go every year before it left Deal) was simply because it was nearly always the same
old faces to be seen and I got a bit fed up.
When you consider how many ex members of the band there must be out there at any one time - it makes you wonder where
they've all got to!
Take this forum as an example (well, that's what Tara says!) How many people keep it going? 15-20?
That's not too many when you think of how many of us are out here.
I love it when a new member joins - especially if I know them - but I think they may get a wee bit daunted by the sheer amount of
discussion they have to wade through and perhaps a wee bit intimidated too.
Not all of us were strong characters in the mob...
If there are any new members that join this forum that read this thread, when you get to this line make an effort to join in and drop in
with a hello - someone's bound to know you and even if they don't you will still be welcomed into the fold.
Rant over..
Normal obstreporous service will now be resumed...
