Days gone by!My name is Alan Harmer Ex FAA 1969 - 1991, it just happens to be my 60th birthday today. Had a great day, Rememberance Service this morning for mates lost in the Falklnds on the Atlantic Conveyor, still got a South Atlantic Medal and a 100 Mtrs swimming certificate. I was onboard HMS Eagle 1970 always, always loved your music. Bought a couple of RM Band CD's recently and noticed the name of the DOM as David Cole who joined the RM in1967 and tonight his name was mentioned on the Alan Titchmarsh show as the Conductor of the Central band of the British Legion. I was in HMS Condor, RNAS Arbroath in 1969 -70 and played football with a RM by the name of David Cole, a truly great footballer and a great guy. Please could somebody tell me if this is the same David Cole. I would be over the moon to find out. Best wishes to all RM Bandsmen you have and still do give me great pleasure, Not so sure my neighbours appreciate it as much as I.

Hi Saxonal. There is only one David Cole of RMB fame, and from what you have said above, it is the same David Cole. Footballer and Musician extraordinaire. Have a look round the other bits of this site, we have elder statesmen who also served on the Eagle.

Alan, your name sounds familiar for some strange reason... FAA, perhaps one of the big war canoes? Well, yes, there is only one David Cole... he looks like this

yes, definitely same one. I played with him at Condor(football) and he wasn't bad! We lost out when you arrived Rab...... mind you, he couldn't repair a coach wearing purple!!
