I found that page 254 of the Arban method never fails to impress at auditions. Do that on trumpet (obviously ) and a good old fart and parp on bulge and drum. You'll walk it.........
Now for the serious answer I hand you over to Admin

Hallo DYRMS..Admin (Deli) is the man who will put you right here..
It's so long since I joined up (in fact since I left), that the only advice I could give you is just make up your mind that you want to do it, and go for it big style...
However, I think if you can successfully fluff 5 open notes on cornet, and annoy your parents by rattling your cutlery on the table, you'll make a great Bugler....
Good Luck my boy.....or girl...

As far as I am aware you can play what you want on the audition. As to the choice... something you can play well and will show your ability. You will possibly be given some sight reading of varying standards to see what level you are at but don't worry about that. I'm unsure of the instruments but I'll find out in the morning and get back to you on that.
As to the Bugle and Drum... play whatever you think will impress and show technique and ability. There is some snare drum grading material you could look at. Most good music shops will have some Guildhall School of Music grading drumming for you to play. If the board can have a copy of what you are playing it will be a great help. Failing that, try playing something from our repertoire.

Having just spoken to the 2 oracles-
Cornet & Trumpet: you can play either instrument or both and play something that shows you off. You'll have an assessment with the proffessor who will do sightreading, scales and other 'tests' in a relaxed environment.
Bugle & drum: a set of marching solos, a drum static or something like 'Caixa' (a grade 8 piece from the Guild Hall School of Music by Michael Skinner). These graded pieces are in books from most good music shops. As to the bugle, a long bugle call (Sunset, Last Post, Reveille or the bugle part to a bugle march such as HMS Ocean would be ideal. If you have written anything for the bugle you could play that but the board / bugle major would need to see the written part to make sure you are playing what you have written.
If you can it would be very much to your advantage if you could have Grades in Theory and Elements of Music (anything being grade 1, 2 or above as this shows you are serious).
You also need to make sure that you have a reasonable level of fitness and NOW is the time to start working on that, don't leave it and do it later!

Thanks alot for all the advice/comments!!!
I'm pretty fit as I run cross-country for my county and play most team sports to a reasonable standard but I will continue training!
My biggest worry is the audition itself but from what you've all said it shouldn't be too hard to brush up on my skills!!
Again Thanks.

It's not because of a lack of musicality though. It's nothing you can help. Bloody medicals!
