It's worth a look at U Tube {http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oxy-uwerDo4}

3 video clips of the Junior Band performing for us retired types.

I've not seen dressing in a band as excellent as theirs was in a long time and the playing was as good as the display.

We have no chance of losing our "Best Bands in the World" with talent like this following on behind

If this is the junior band, why are there SNCO's in it.
Also........... Don't they have a euphonium instructor to fill the void?

Absolutely right, Ray!  It would have been an opportunity to show them how it is done.

Have to say, sitting in the stand, I was sure I could hear a gentle 'hum' of people filling in the cues!

If this is/was the JUNIOR band and applications to join are to be from those aged betwen 18 and 28 what on earth makes them the Junior band.  Surely Band under Training would better desribe them. When I was in the junior wing band way back when, all the juniors were betwen the ages of 14 and 18.
Incidentally Ian, you and I were both memebers of the Band of the CinC Nore Command at HMS Pembroke.

However I forgot to say, they were, as one would expect of a Band of  HM Royal Marines, bloody marvelous.  Well done.

It was the School of Music Band and SNCO & JNCO instructors were playing because there are not enough trainees to make a whole band. If you look at  our Facebook photos you'll see the band with a few cymbal players in it http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Bands-of-HM-Royal-Marines-Official/

Don't think so  LEN. It's all part of the defence cut-backs.  They're using the cymbals as solar panels to heat the mess...

Correct me if I'm wrong (Rarely for a Bass Player!) we used to have 2 bands in "J" Wing (58 -62).

Numero Una was the Parade Band as the basic playing, marching & generally getting it together band.

Numero Dos was the used for doing some Cat 1 & 2 engagements.

Over to you Mik.  Your memory is not as cloudy as mine!

I actually wrote that, edited my scrawls, didn't check it before posting!!
It should have read (as is obvious by the nonsensical sentence!):
After "Numero dos was" insert, "the Ceremonial Band and" etc

Having thought about my question............If they have no euphonium players under instruction why would they have an instructor.
