This is long overdue - sort of 'virtual coffee boat.'

Hello to all signed up and those yet to come.

Pat 'Pusser' Hill, retired (hurt) 1992 now doing the 16 hours each week scribing for a few local chariries. No longer an active musician - if I ever was - miss the gigs, miss the coffee boat and really miss the sense of humour.

Pat, you are most welcome here in the virtual coffee boat! The coffee boat bills are not as high as they used to be but the coffee is still as bad.

I hope this site takes off and people start ditting on, bandy is world famous for his (or her!) ditting ability

Pat good to hear you still alive and kicking.... i have wonderful pic of you handing out jelly babies to kids on Tuvalu in the Pacific... Yot trip 1982,,, do you remember???
Must dig it out and post it.

I recall your sense of humour and wit as one of the best things about the trip....... apart from PH and his disappearing Ball Top !!!!

'Ex Serving?' I could never get on with that. As it happens I did not migrate from the Band to Civvy Street with the grace and acceptance that I set out to achieve. To be honest it was a bit of a struggle. I discussed this with a friend who told me he was unable to understand why I worked so hard to become a 'civvy.'

"Why don't you just be a Royal Marine in a different uniform?'

Retired Royal Marine I became and a retired Royal Marine I remain.

It was the Tuvalu. I have a fond memory of a feast laid on for the Royals ashore on some island - Funafuti? Me, someone else and Fruit Bats!

Nice to know you are still about to, although I always knew you were alive and kicking - you will not be the first to wonder if I was dead!

Hi Pat ... thanks for reply .... not to fussed about ex serving or retired........cannot get excited about either.
I am currently working as social worker in child protection and referral work. Its a good job and i enjoy the variety of it..... mostly working with kids and families in all sorts of dire straits. Not retired yet still very much alive and know a few people who need a kicking!!!!

Rarely return to to the reunions but just been to the Sharps top Table at CTCRM.... it just a superb day... drank to much and talked to much but then so did everyone else!!!!!

Remember the head chef bloke, very native, grass skirt thing, headress, prowling round the tables under the palm leaf roof? He had a big stick/club. Seem to remember he got a bit agitated when we stripped the not very much meat off those bats assuming they were either pigeons or some sort of rodent (well, ground based rodent anyway!) then tossed the remains in the bin. Turned out you were supposed to split the carcass and eat the liver. Delicacy.......highly honoured............must do or the host loses face.............not do causes deep embarrassment.

Can't take us anywhere, can they?

Sorry, don't remember very much at all mate ! Too much booze as usual !!
That was a great trip though, do you remember the rehersal for the Singapore gig ? Silly question really, i don't think anyone who was there will EVER forget it ! I thought we were all going to be flown home and locked up in Dover castle ! Never seen a more agitated boss before, or since, lucky we had Taff Morris and Shiner Wright to take the brunt ! Mind you, when he caught me making alterations to the music he had written, i thought i had had an instant sex change; Sat there like a shitting dog ! Funny how it turned out a great gig though !
