It's Dee's 50th next year...All down to Deal for a good run ashore. Remember when Dee and Twink Star were a litlle bit late for that Gig in Kiel on board HMS Kent. All the band were playing on the foredeck when up the road strolled a very drunk pair of bandies in Lovats...Tee Hee....I think Joe Kendrick was the Bandmaster, but I think he had a sense of humour......!!!!....Booty :O)

Now how do you remember that booty?

I was there and I don't remember it...

I do however remember me and Twink Starr going ashore from Pembroke on our respective motorcycles for a curry.

When we re-entered barracks and went round the back of the blocks (a couple of which are still there) he thought I was going to go left whereas I knew I was going to go right - so up the outside comes Twink, just as I lean over for the right-hander.

All I remember seeing was a very wide open mouth and look of horror on his face alongside me as we creamed in together. I went over the handlebars, dunno exactly what happened to Twink - maybe he'll tell us!!

There was blood, snot and curry everywhere - wotawaste

I think I probably said something like, "We'll laugh about this one day!" You never know, maybe we will...

If memory serves me correctly, you had a red Honda CB200, Twink had a blue Suzuki GT185 and Ian (Jock) McKinnell had a blue Honda 400 SuperSport. Ah well Halcyon days...Booty :O)

Your memory is fine Botty (Freudian slip?)

I kept going with motorbikes as I found that skidding under the wheels of cars was a very effective way of getting off Horse Guards!!!

Yamaha XS 250 was next at Dartmouth, then back to Chatham and a Honda CX500, then I got me a Kawasaki GTR1000 which was fantastic. In fact it was so good that I got another one about 12 years later that I have just scrapped, so I'm now bikeless

I'm still alive though, so I might get another soon.

The only time I got off Horse Guards was when I was playing football in Deal and I broke my leg in a tackle with Bob Johnson. Goldie rode my bike back to Chatham for me and I returned back to the band a few weeks later after I was able to walk with the aid of crutches. I must admit to having an easy time at an Edinburgh Tattoo one year when Steve Cook was the Bandmaster at Deal. I was the Band Librarian at that time and Steve Cook used the services of a few of us in the admin office. That was quite a nice experience, although I was hyper for most of the evening as I drank too much Coffee during the day,,,,,,, Butty :O)
